The South Shore of Lake Tahoe can be broken into two main areas, the California side, known as South Lake Tahoe, and the Nevada side, know as Stateline. Heavenly Ski Resort actually straddles both states, but the main entrance to the resort is located in California, although it is less than a block from the South Lake Tahoe Casinos (ie right on the California/Nevada border). There is a vast selection of activities, dining, and entertainment to be found in South Lake Tahoe. From large Vegas style casinos, such as Harrah’s and Ceasars Tahoe, to the phenomenal skiing and snowboarding at Heavenly, there are few places in the United States that offer so much in one location. Oh, and don’t forget that Lake Tahoe is a summer beach and golf paradise also!
If you’re planning a vacation in South Lake Tahoe, be sure to spend some time looking at all your lodging options. There are plenty of large casino style resorts of course, but you can also find intimate mountain inns just minutes from the slopes, as well as a very large selection of vacation rentals. Another plus about visiting Tahoe is the fact that most of it’s business comes from the Bay Area. Which means just about everyone drives up on the weekends. If you can visit mid-week (during non-holiday periods) there are tons of deals to be found. Good luck planning your vacation, and we hope to see you soon.
